ADULT PSYCHIATRY APPOINTMENT

This is a 90 minute appointment with an Adult Eating Disorder Specialist Consultant Psychiatrist, who will carry out a comprehensive medical, social and psychological assessment. This will then be used to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan.  

Prior to the assessment you will be asked to fill out psychological screening tools and send in any previous relevant assessments which will be reviewed prior to the appointment. 

A psychiatric consultation offers:

  • A clear understanding and formulation of your symptoms

  • A formal diagnosis

  • A personalised treatment plan

  • Medication prescription and management where appropriate

  • Guidance on therapy and next steps

  • A Psychiatric Assessment report

Any additional referrals that may need to be made will be discussed in the appointment and where possible actioned by the clinic. 

This may include visiting a GP for blood biochemistry tests or an ECG.

This appointment can be accessed by individuals over the age of 18 who are experiencing restrictive or selective eating, compensatory behaviours around eating and binge eating with a low to medium risk profile.

These appointments take place at our Church Road clinic.

Cost: £1000

Please note that the Psychiatric Assessment is the only assessment where you will receive a formal diagnosis and can discuss or be prescribed medication.
Psychiatrists can also write reports that you may require e.g. for education settings.
